BEFORE THE SHOOT:
Are you the person who takes the photographs?
YES! I will always be the person taking your pictures. I don't hire other photographers to cover dates for me. I will often bring an assistant to help transport equipment and do some set up work, but I will always be taking your pictures.
What kind of Camera's do you have? How high is the image quality? Do you carry back up equipment?
I shoot with a Canon 40D. I also have professional Canon cameras for my negative equipment. I ALWAYS have backup equipment OF THE SAME HIGH QUALITY AS MY ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT with me. The high resolution images can be enlarged to 36 by 48 inches perfectly (absolutely no distortion or loss of image quality). Keep in mind that my images have been used on BILLBOARDS, so even if you are doing large scale advertising, you won't have any problems using the images.
Are the images that come on CD High Resolution? Are they marked in any way? Can I print from them?
The images are High Resolution images. You can print from your CD. They are not marked with a watermark or copyright. You own the images!
Are images from you edited and re-touched?
Yes! My digital artist goes through EVERY IMAGE and then I go through them to do additional editing and retouching. The extensive editing is what gives your pictures a polished and professional look. I spend every bit as much time doing editing work as a did when I first started doing photography and was working in film. I include many crops, many black and whites, and many retouched images on your CD! I provide additional retouching at no extra charge. This includes airbrushing skin, fixing "fly-aways" in hair, objects in the background, ect.
How did you get into food and advertising photography?
I've have a background doing work for newspapers and magazines in the late 90's and have photographed weddings since 2000. I discovered the I was a "foodie" in part due to the great food I was experiencing at weddings! I realized that I wanted to shoot food and other advertising images for other business owners and have been doing it for a few years. Getting into food and advertising photography was a great way to blend my photography interest with my food and wine interest.
Is it really worth it to have professional images in my marketing?
YES ! Having professional images WILL help you SELL what you offer ! The images will pay for themselves.
Think about websites and marketing materials that you have viewed. Are you more likely to book a table at a restaurant or a stay at a b and b if the website has GREAT photos? Or will you spend your money on the place that has snap shot photos or no photos? SEEING what they GET does make customers SPEND!
Will you come to us if we aren't in the Bay Area?
YES ! I travel A LOT for photo shoots. Food photography in Portland Oregon, Food photography in Seattle Washinton, and Food Photography in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas are often offered without a travel fee ( I can usually combine the shoot with another trip since I'm in each place a few times a year already ). I am open to coming anywhere in the U.S. and have very affordable travel fees.
